Applications to host Art Attack go out at the beginning of the year. A written form of art attack is always available and updated daily at ocsarts.net/artattack

  • National Honors Society (NHS)

NHS is an academic honors society recognized nationwide. NHS meetings are typically the SECOND Wednesday of every month in Symphony Hall at 11:50 for all students. NHS members have lifelong memberships and only need to apply once. If you qualify for NHS (3.5 GPA or higher), you will receive an email informing you of your eligibility at the end of the school year, which will prompt you to submit a written application for the following school year. You must complete 10 service hours by the end of the school year.

Fun fact: JOLO is on the NHS Board as co-president (Josie) and communications coordinator (London). Reach out to us with any additional questions!

  • California Scholarship Federation (CSF)

CSF is an academic honors society exclusive to the state of California. Applications go out at the end of each semester. Freshman can apply for their second semester.

CSF meetings are typically FIRST Wednesday of every month in Symphony Hall. CSF acceptance is based on qualification (GPA/Courses taken) not on responses as a written application.

Scholarships for CSF are available to active CSF seniors. You do not have to be an active member each semester, but you do need at least 4 active semesters to earn your CSF cord for graduation (one of which must be your senior spring semester). Active semesters require 7 points.

  • Leadership Applications

Interested in applying to the Leadership class? Applications go out in the beginning of the spring semester. The application consists of two rounds: a written application and an in-person interview.

Leadership is an elective at OCSA that is similar to ASB at other schools, except we have much more creative freedom. If you’ve noticed, OCSA doesn’t have a typical student council with President, Secretary, Treasurer, etc.* That’s because those duties are taken care of by the Leadership class. Leaderships plans everything from Prom to the music you hear on 10th street, as well as all the cultural celebrations, Art Attack, and everything in between.

*Instead of a typical Student Council, OCSA has student body representatives for each grade. JOLO was junior class representatives for the class of 2023. You do not have to be in the Leadership class to apply for student body representatives, but you do have to be in Leadership to apply to be Student Body Presidents.
